Custom Stainless Heat Shields for a Classic Corvette

Every now and then, a project comes along that’s as much about aesthetics as it is about performance. This one checked both boxes in a big way. We were recently tasked with designing and fabricating a custom set of heat shields for the exhaust pipes on a classic Corvette, and it turned into one of those builds that really let us flex both our creative and technical muscles.

The brief was simple: create heat shields that not only protect the surrounding components from exhaust heat but also look right at home on a beautifully restored vintage vehicle. The client wanted something with a refined, finished look — off-the-shelf wasn’t possible. So we started from scratch.

For the shields themselves, we went with BA (bright annealed) stainless steel. This material has a high mirror finish that not only looks incredible, but also holds up to heat and the elements. The polished surface was the perfect complement to the Corvette’s classic styling, and it gave the entire piece a premium feel from the start.

We spent time developing a slotted and perforated design that would blend visual appeal with functional ventilation. Once we finalised the concept, we presented it to the client for approval.

They loved it.

With the green light from the client, we moved into production. The shields were laser profile cut, then carefully rolled and formed to follow the contours of the Corvette’s exhaust system. Our goal was to ensure a flawless fit. Custom stainless mounts were also fabricated to secure everything in place.

Once the shields were mounted to the car, it all came together. The fit was seamless. The look was sharp. And the function was spot on.

We always aim to exceed expectations, and in this case, the feedback said it all. The client was absolutely over the moon with the final product. It’s moments like that that make everything worth it.

Custom fabrication is about problem-solving. This Corvette project was a perfect example of how we bring both quality and creativity to the table, transforming raw material into something that not only works but wows.
