This climber planter box is part of our "I Have An Idea" series, which is a collection of one-off pieces inspired by materials that were destined for the scrap bin, or found secondhand, before being given a second life.
The story of this planter started with a section of chain link removed from an old gate.
As it was being carried past the office, Lara looked up, saw it, and asked, "Where's that going?"
"Scrap bin," replied Zak.
"Hold on, I have an idea for that."
The chain link returned to the workshop, a quick concept was sketched up, and this planter was born.
What you see here is the result — a one-of-a-kind Corten steel climber planter that combines weathering steel with reclaimed materials that were moments away from being discarded.
Crafted from weathering steel (Corten), the planter has a rusted patina, which will create a striking feature for gardens and outdoor spaces.
This piece was imagined, designed, and fabricated by hand (by Zak) in our Bombay workshop.
There is only one.
